U Bein Bridge, Mandalay

On our way out of Mandalay we visited U Bein Bridge, the worlds oldest and (once) longest teak footbridge, built around 1850.

Photos from our travels with the Allen’s in December 2019.

We also were able to visit a weaving factory to see how the beautiful Myanmar fabrics are made. It’s an impressive amount of work.

Outside Mandalay on the Irawaddy River there are a number of pagoda complexes scattered throughout the hills. We visited one (name forgotten) to get a view of the area. It was really quite beautiful.

Next stop Bagan!
